Charlie Cox Returns to MCU With Upcoming DAREDEVIL: BORN AGAIN Series

Matt Murdock hasn’t retired just yet. Charlie Cox will officially return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe as the blind lawyer-turned-superhero in Disney+’s upcoming DAREDEVIL: BORN AGAIN series.

According to Deadline, the series will have 18 episodes, with Cox and Vincent D’Onofrio returning as Matt Murdock/Daredevil and Kingpin, respectively.

Netflix’s DAREDEVIL was canceled in 2018, but Cox made a brief cameo in SPIDER-MAN: NO WAY HOME. This, plus D’Onofrio’s appearance in Disney+’s HAWKEYE, made many fans wonder if the characters would be returning to their screens.

Cox is also confirmed to appear as Daredevil in the upcoming shows SHE-HULK and ECHO, as well as voice the character in SPIDER-MAN: FRESHMAN YEAR.

DAREDEVIL: BORN AGAIN is set to drop on Disney+ in 2024.

The title, itself, could be intriguing to media-wise viewers who know that Murdock often wrestles with his Catholic faith. In the Bible, the term “born again,” is what Jesus told the rich young ruler must happen in order for him to inherit the Kingdom of God.

The DAREDEVIL Season 3 episode, “A New Napkin,” was nominated for multiple Movieguide® Awards for its strong faith content.

According to our review:

The episode only becomes better when he also chooses to forgive those who wronged him, including his mother, the nun, who lied to him all these years about the true nature of their relationship. Because of his Christian faith, Matt was able to become a man without fear, and because of his faith again, he’s now able to forgive. The episode’s Christian, redemptive dialogue is some of the year’s best TV dialogue. It contains strong positive Christian messages promoting forgiveness, seeing God’s Plan and Providence in our lives however chaotic they may appear to be, redemption, and repentance.
