THE BLIND SIDE Star Defends Sandra Bullock Amid Calls to Remove Oscar

By Movieguide® Contributor

THE BLIND SIDE actor Quinton Aaron has defended Sandra Bullock after some have called for her Oscar to be removed due to recent allegations about the Tuohy family.

“There’s a lot of hate being spread nowadays. And there’s you know, someone asked me, there’s people saying things like that, ‘Oh maybe you should strip Sandra of her title…her Oscar.’ I’m like, ‘For what?’” Aaron told Fox News Digital.

“There’s nothing that says she had anything to do with this. She was an actress who got hired to do a job, and she did it so well that she was rewarded for it. Why would you take that reward just because of what’s going on today, 14 years later?” he continued.

“I wish they would just leave her alone because, you know, she’s going through her own things right now, you know with the love she just lost. You know, she suffered a great loss,” he added, referencing the recent death of Bullock’s partner Bryan Randall to ALS.

“I’m a teddy bear, I like to think of myself as a teddy bear, but if you mess with the people I love, I will become a grizzly bear, just saying,” Aaron added.

Bullock’s work on the movie scored her the Best Performance by an Actress in a Leading Role Oscar in 2010 for her depiction of Leigh Anne Tuohy, the family’s matriarch that adopted Michael Oher.

The public view of the Tuohy family has been shattered over the past week as the real-life Michael Oher claimed the family lied about adopting him and instead placed him under a conservatorship. This caused them to have control over his finances, allegedly keeping tens of thousands of dollars from him.

The Tuohy have responded claiming they have not taken a cent of Oher’s money, and they placed him under a conservatorship because he was already 18 by the time they wanted to adopt him.

Movieguide® previously reported:

Sean Tuohy responded to Michael Oher’s claims that the family lied about adopting him as a teenager.

Tuohy said the family was “devastated” by Oher’s allegations, adding, “It’s upsetting to think we would make money off any of our children, but we’re going to love Michael at 37 just like we loved him at 16.”

The Tuohys took Oher in when he was in high school, but the former NFL star recently stated that they misled him — instead of adopting him, the couple placed him in a conservatorship.

His petition to end the conservatorship reads, “The lie of Michael’s adoption is one upon which Co-Conservators Leigh Anne Tuohy and Sean Tuohy have enriched themselves at the expense of their Ward, the undersigned Michael Oher.”
