Katy Nichole’s ‘Hold On’ Marks Third No. 1 Hit on Radio

Singer-songwriter Katy Nichole’s new song “Hold On” reached No. 1 on the radio, becoming the third track from her new album “Jesus Changed My Life” to hit that level.

Movieguide® previously reported on her hit album:

The album features Nichole’s chart-topping song, ‘In Jesus Name (God of Possible,’ as well as her previously released track ‘God Is In This Story.’

“Jesus is constantly refining my heart,” Nichole said of the title track in a recent press release. “Like a lot of the cries that are in the Psalms, when I find myself in a place of struggle, I turn back to Him. If Jesus could change my life then, He can change my life now.”

In “Hold On,” Nichole shares her story of holding on through her darkest moments.

“The song points to a bigger picture beyond what you can see in the moment; beyond the pain, beyond the struggle,” The Christian Beat reported on the song.

“I know firsthand what it means to be broken and desperate,” Nichole stated. “However, I have also experienced the beauty and wonder of God redeeming and breathing life into situations that seemed utterly hopeless. I want my music to speak truth and shine a light for those going through dark times.”

At age 15, Nichole was diagnosed with Scoliosis and soon underwent surgery to align her spine.

“I was in so much pain that I couldn’t even get out of bed in the morning,” she told Centricity Music.

“Depression just took over like a smoke cloud,” she expressed. “At one point, I looked at a bottle of pills I was given, and I was like, ‘It would be that easy.’ But I remember picking it up, and I heard the voice of God say, ‘Hold on. I’m not done yet.’ Every time I would hit that low point, I would hear that same voice.”

Soon after, Nichole received another surgery to take out the screws and plates that were put in to correct her spine.

“I go into the second surgery, and I come out of it, and that smoke cloud was gone. I encountered the Lord in that moment,” the singer recalled. “When I got my X-rays after surgery, my spine was actually straighter than when the rods had been in it. So, when I say that God can do miracles, I mean it, because I’ve seen it.”

“I stopped writing pop music and started writing to the One who has inspired me,” she said. “I realized my songs were way better when Jesus was included.”

“Katy is performing at all the major Christian festivals, fairs and more this summer before rejoining CAIN for a 33-city tour launching Sept. 20 in Baton Rouge, LA,” The Christian Beat reported.

Movieguide® previously reported on “Hold On”:

“I hope this song can encourage you and remind you that your life matters so, so much and you can hold on because you have a purpose,” Nichole added.

The music video for “Hold On” beautifully portrays the story that Nichole shared on Instagram. It depicts the outward image of a perfect, happy life that clashes with the chaotic, depressed reality that Nichole felt inside herself.

Nichole’s music continues to inspire and provides hope for those who are struggling. Her use of personal struggles gives her music authenticity and allows it to speak to people in a deeper and more meaningful way.
