‘Give Them Hope’: Kirk Cameron’s New Kids’ Book Teaches Power Of Love

By Movieguide® Contributor

Kirk Cameron’s latest children’s book, “The Fox, The Fair, and the Invention Scare,” is teaching kids that love can conquer all.

“Ironically, one of the lies culture tells your children is that the love of self should be their single most important priority,” a description of the book reads. “But, what about teaching them the hard lesson about Christ’s higher, self-sacrificial love? In Kirk’s new book, on the topic of loving your enemy, Stewart the Giraffe dreams of beating Asher at the Hive Haven Fair. But, when an unexpected accident ruins Stewart’s chances, it’s how Asher reacts that changes everything!”

Cameron pointed to the many conflicts going on in the world today, such as the Russia-Ukraine and Israel-Palestine wars, as things that kids are “trying to make sense of.”

“If we can show them something different. If we can show them that we’re really all brothers, we can give them hope,” he told Fox News.

“The Fox, The Fair, and the Invention Scare” has also inspired Cameron to “not just talk the talk, but walk the walk” when communicating with his critics.

“I’m a Christian conservative, traditional-values guy. There are people out there who appear to be my enemies,” he said of those who have publicly criticized and protested against him. “They probably see me as their enemy. But I think we can have respectful discussions about family values, morality, religion and the books we should be reading to our children.”

Cameron has previously spoken out against the American Library Association, which he claims encouraged libraries to cancel or sabotage readings of his books.

“The taxpayer-funded American Library Association is not only criticizing me, they are teaching libraries to break the law and conspiring to prevent thousands of families from visiting their own community reading rooms,” Cameron said in a statement calling on the federal government to investigate the ALA.

He continued, “Rather than being an example of genuine respect and non-discrimination, the ALA is the champ in excluding viewpoints it disagrees with and preventing families from using libraries to read to their children about faith, hope and love. ALA, why all the hate? I thought you wanted diversity of thought in the Public Square? What happened to equal opportunity for all?”

Movieguide® previously reported on Cameron’s battles with public libraries:

An Alabama library that tried to cancel a book reading by actor Kirk Cameron has been forced to reverse course and allow the event to occur.

Cameron not only refused to let the library take away his First Amendment right but also believes the “See You at the Library Day” will benefit struggling libraries nationwide.

“These libraries should really be grateful that so many parents and children are excited to visit them tomorrow,” Cameron told CBN’s Faithwire. “With e-books and other online reading options, sit-down libraries are becoming irrelevant and obsolete to the younger generation.”

“Too much fear and woke-ness has made the ALA and these librarians go mad,” he continued.

The library reversed its decision after the backlash from Cameron and Brave Books.
