Former Model Thanks Fans for Prayers Amid Cancer Battle: They’re ‘Working’

By Movieguide® Contributor

Former model Nicole Weider updated her followers about her cancer journey, sharing that their prayers are working.

“I just finished my 2nd chemo appointment/infusion beating this cancer and the biggest praise report to share with you!!” she posted on Instagram. “My visit with my oncologist today she said to us she couldn’t even find the main and large cancerous lump I used to have in my armpit that was even bigger than the one in my breast. It’s vanished after only one treatment!”

Weider, a former Victoria’s Secret model who left the industry to follow God, was diagnosed with stage 4 breast cancer in November.  She has been open about her diagnosis and frequently asks followers to pray.

“YOUR PRAYERS ARE WORKING!!” she continued. “She [the oncologist] said ‘wow’ And ‘fabulous’ and was surprised herself! Thank you please keep praying for me that the cancer cells die and are totally removed from my body and eventually I’ll be NED!! (No evidence of disease) there’s still a small spot in my left breast but it has shrunken a lot!! I’m tearing up I’m so grateful if you’ve said kind words or prayed for me they are making a difference!!”

Weider has been vulnerable about her cancer and treatment journey.

In another recent post, she wrote, “I’m SO grateful and thankful the cancer is shrinking. But sometimes I still worry. Because it’s stage 4, and by many people it can’t be ‘cured’ I have to stay on a maintenance shot every 3 weeks indefinitely. And that has side effects too. I’m so thankful for the doctor who created Herceptin and Perjeta because that along with the chemo is saving my life.”

Weider has leaned on God throughout this difficult experience. Movieguide® previously reported on how the former model gave her life to God:

“I gave my life to Christ when I was 23, and it was the best decision I ever made,” Weider said. “After I gave my life to God I felt a renewed sense of hope, and I felt like my dignity was back in my heart. I started journaling about my love for God and my experiences in the modeling industry, and pretty soon after I gave my life to God, He put in my heart a desire to create a website for teenage girls to share pieces of my testimony on there and to be a light to girls and to warn them about the dangers of the Hollywood industry and about the modeling industry.”
