Country Singer Lainey Wilson Says Faith, Family Keep Her ‘Grounded’

YELLOWSTONE actress and country music star Lainey Wilson is opening up about the things that keep her “grounded.”

“I feel like there’s a few things that keep me grounded,” Wilson, 31, told Fox News Digital. “My faith, most importantly.”

For Wilson, it’s important to surround herself with supportive people.

“I run my mouth a lot, but I talk to God a lot too,” she shared. “I think it’s really important to stay as grounded as you possibly can. If that means picking up the phone, talking to your mama, talking to your family, talking to your nephews, surrounding yourself with the people who love you and who know you better than anybody, I think those are all the little tricks. That’s what I’m doing.”

The singer/actress won several Country Music Awards and some of her hits have made it to the top of the charts. She writes about her faith in songs “Me, You and Jesus” and “Sunday Best.”

At the iHeartRadio Music Awards last week, she sang “Save Me” with rapper Jelly Roll.

Movieguide® reported on Wilson’s and Zach William’s performance at the Country Music Awards Christmas Special last December:

Country music stars Lainey Wilson and Zach Williams partnered up for an energetic performance of “Go Tell It on the Mountain” for this year’s CMA COUNTRY CHRISTMAS special.

“I’m looking forward to this,” Williams said during a backstage interview. “This is gonna be fun…This is an honor for me. I’m a big fan [of Wilson], and so getting a chance to do this song and then just be here and be a part of CMA COUNTRY CHRISTMAS. Some of my favorite artists are performing. It’s awesome.”

“I’ve been a fan of yours for a really long time,” Wilson added, sharing her admiration for her duet partner. “Getting to do ‘Go Tell It on the Mountain’ – which, I grew up going to Baskin Baptist Church, and every single year around this time, this is what we would sing.”

CMT reported that her grit and faith are why she’s successful today.

“I think it was grit,” Wilson said. “That grit that my mama and daddy instilled in me from the beginning, but also that faith that they instilled in me. I knew from an early age … that this was my calling. I knew that this was a gift. I truly believe that if you feel like you have a gift, you’re supposed to share it with the world. And mine is telling stories.”

Her parents raised her in a Baptist church in Baskin, a small town in Louisiana.

“The church was a huge part of my growing up and our family foundation. We love Jesus,” she said on Southern Living’s “Biscuits and Jam” podcast. “And I’m not sure where I would be right now on this journey without him. I mean, it’s just a part of who I am.”
