Do You Let God’s Word Have the Final Say in Your Life?
By Movieguide® Contributor
Pastor and author Earl McClellan wants to be a positive influence in people’s lives by reminding them of the importance of God’s word.
In a recent discussion with Sadie Robertson Huff, he shared about his new book and reflected on some personal lessons he learned while creating it.
“I continued to pray on it, and I really, really felt impressed by God that I needed to take this step,” he said of writing his book, “Get Your Spirit Back: Break Free of Negative Self-Talk and Step Fulling into Your Calling.” “And one, it was a step of obedience and then number two, I felt like I wanted to do something that my kids could see, and it would remove a lid off of their life.”
The Shoreline City Church pastor explained the heart behind his book.
“In Christ, we’re not some defeated, broken down, tossed aside, forgotten people,” McClellan said. “No, we are the sons and daughters of Almighty God, and that does not mean our life is perfect, obviously. It not does not mean everything goes our way all the time. We know that’s not the case. But it does mean that our spirit has been changed and transformed, and we haven’t been given a spirit of fear but of power love and a sound mind.”
“If you’ve ever felt you had more to give—leadership, courage, kindness—but have struggled to fully unleash these qualities, Get Your Spirit Back is the catalyst you need,” the book’s synopsis reads. “Liberate yourself from the mindset holding you back and stand in the confidence of who God made you to be.”
McClellan explained why it is so important for us to listen to God’s word instead of our feelings, even when our negative feelings about ourselves are strong.
“Am I going to let my feelings and my behavior be the final say in my life or am I going to let God’s word be the final say in my life?” he asked.
Recently, McClellan took to Instagram to remind his audience that God cares deeply about us.
In the post, he wrote, “Today there will be many voices shouting at you and me saying ‘Look over here!’ ‘Put your trust in me!’ But let these words of Jesus and the words of this song settle your soul and mine… Luke 12:7 ‘…Do not be afraid; you are worth more than many sparrows.’”
He continued, “There’s a throne and it’s fully occupied! And no matter what happens today in life, elections, business or elsewhere, Jesus will not be moving off of His throne.”
