PADDINGTON IN PERU is making its streaming debut. Here are all the ways to watch the third installment in the popular kids’ franchise.
“It’s a completely beloved franchise,” the movie’s director, Dougal Wilson, told The AU Review. He was brought on to direct PADDINGTON IN PERU after Paul King, writer and director of the first two movies, wasn’t able to return for the third.
He continued, “It was a great opportunity, but I was under no illusion of how difficult it would be to continue in the same vein of similar quality. It was terrifying, actually. But I felt like I couldn’t turn the opportunity down. I knew I would regret it if I did.”
Wilson’s risk paid off — PADDINGTON IN PERU made over $160 million at the global box office, per Box Office Mojo. Now, it’s available to watch at home.
PADDINGTON IN PERU is currently available for purchase on Apple TV and Prime Video, costing $19.99 to rent and $24.99 to buy. The Hollywood Reporter added that the movie is expected to drop on Netflix or Crackle once its theatrical run is over in early June or late July.
Want a physical copy of PADDINGTON IN PERU? DVDs and Blu-rays are available for preorder and will be available for purchase April 29. Prices start at $28.60.
PADDINGTON IN PERU received a positive review from Movieguide®, calling it a “delightful comedy adventure” and praising its “several heartfelt moments” (trailer via YouTube).
The PADDINGTON movies are beloved by fans of the friendly bear around the world, but will there be a fourth one?
“I don’t know if there will be any more PADDINGTONs,” Ben Whishaw, who voices Paddington, told The New York Times. “I’m always of the opinion that it’s best to leave people wanting more,” adding, “We’ll see.”
However, StudioCanal CEO Françoise Guyonnet told The Hollywood Reporter, “We are also working on a new TV series and a new movie to come in 2027, ’28.”
Guyonnet also shared that, at the end of this year, they are “launching a musical in the West End” based around Paddington, with music and lyrics by Tom Fletcher.
“That’s a real pinch-me project for me,” Fletcher said during an interview on “The Chris Evans Breakfast Show.” “I can’t believe they asked me to do that, and they’re trusting me with Paddington Bear, who we all love!”
He continued, “It is so magic, I can’t say too much about it. It’s really hard because I can talk about my projects, but with this one I’m a very small cog in this massive machine. But it is going to make people cry. It is so emotional and amazing, and I can’t wait for everyone to see it.”
More movies, a new show and an upcoming stage musical — it looks like the world can’t get enough of Paddington Bear.
