DC Studios’ new WONDER WOMAN movie edges a little closer to production with Ana Nogueira in talks to write the script.
Nogueira already has a blind deal with DC. She wrote SUPERGIRL, which comes out next summer and is working on a live Teen Titans film with Warner Bros., The Hollywood Reporter said.
Nogueira is an accomplished playwright. She helped with the earliest developmental readings of “Hamilton” and wrote “Which Way to The Stage” and “Empathitrax.”
Like the new SUPERMAN film, this new movie will feature an unfamiliar face as Wonder Woman. Gal Gadot’s time as the hero has ended.
DC Studios co-CEO James Gunn recently said the film is not being fast-tracked.
“It’s a priority but I wouldn’t call that fast-tracked,” he wrote on Threads. “Nothing is going to be shot unless we’re as sure as we can be that the script is good.”
Gunn also quelled rumors that he’s currently casting for the movie.
He said he’s not looking, “nor even discussing it, until a script is finished.”
Another rumor claimed he was looking for an actress that had a TV-centric resume to star as Wonder Woman.
“Nope. And I’d never in a million years look for a major role based on whether they did TV, films, or whatever,” he wrote. “It’s all about the casting.”
Gunn recently shared about his casting process for SUPERMAN.
“You know, Nick Hoult auditioned [for Superman]. He’s a great actor. I mean, some might say he’s better than David [Corenswet] in certain ways, but he just didn’t fit the role, and that’s why he didn’t get that,” Gunn said. “As much as you can transform yourself as a person, Nick was just more controlled.”

“One of the things that we were also doing was mixing and matching Lois and Clarks when we were auditioning them, and so I wanted to make sure that we had that chemistry right,” he said. “David had better chemistry with Rachel [Brosnahan] because she’s a very controlled actor, and David is a little bit more, you know, loose, and that creates a different type of dynamism onscreen.”
SUPERMAN briefly introduced Milly Alcock as Supergirl. Her movie comes out June 26, 2026. In it, she will join forces with a young alien, Ruthye, for revenge across the cosmos. She’ll have to face a ruthless killer named Krem. Woman’s World reported Matthias Schoenaerts, Eve Ridley and Jason Momoa will also star in the movie. Craig Gillespie, known for MILLION DOLLAR ARM, CRUELLA and LARS AND THE REAL GIRL, will direct.
DC will introduce CLAYFACE on Sept. 11, 2026. The studio is also developing a show centered around Wonder Woman called PARADISE LOST, which doesn’t have an estimated release date.
