Houston Texans defensive end Will Anderson gave all the glory to God during an appearance on THURSDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL after the Texans defeated the Buffalo Bills 23-19.

“Yeah, first I just want to give all glory to God. Man, I think He’s just doing kingdom work using my platform to honor Him, man, and play for Him,” Anderson said. “And we had a short week, but we knew what type of challenge we had ahead, especially as a D-lineman.”

“We pride ourselves on our standard and the expectation that we come into the game,” he continued. “And everybody hunted tonight, and we were just talking about being relentless like empty the tank. We got a long break. Everybody give it all you got and just go for it.”

Anderson ended the night with six total tackles and 2.5 sacks on the Bills quarterback, Josh Allen.

After the game, the athlete shared some photos from the night and included notes he took during a Bible study.

“Belief in God is not just a crutch for weak people who cannot make it on their own,” Anderson wrote. “God is a shield to protect us when we are too weak to face certain trials by ourselves. He does not want us to remain weak.”

He concluded his notes with a prayer: “Lord, thank you! For my strength comes from you in every aspect of my life. I ask for more protection, guidance, and strength in my personal life, my world life, and my spiritual life for your glory. In Jesus’ name, Amen.”

Outside of football, Anderson uses his platform to give back to the community. The defensive end just launched The William Anderson Jr. Foundation.

“A foundation dedicated to supporting and uplifting families through community, outreach and service,” Anderson wrote in a post on social media. “This one is personal. It begins a legacy that will continue to impact families who are often overlooked, underrepresented and voiceless.”

He added: “It was an honor to start this journey at my local Boys and Girls club for Thanksgiving, warming plates and hearts or serving abundance one bite at a time. Together — we make an impact one act at a time.”

Anderson and the Houston Texans look to continue their great play against the Indianapolis Colts this Sunday at 1 p.m. ET. No matter what happens on the field, though, Anderson does everything with “God’s joy.”
