Tim Tebow shared a moment when a real blindspot in his life was exposed — and how it caused him to rethink other blindspots he might have.
“In 2015 when I was playing for the Philadelphia Eagles — I wasn’t playing for them, I was trying to play for them,” he said in an Instagram video. “And then I got cut, so how’d that go for me?”
Tebow explained that one day, the players were sent to see doctors who conducted various tests on them.
“And you’re just kind of going through them, trying to do your best on them, and finally I finish and I’m getting ready to walk out,” he continued. “And one of the doctors walks up to me and he’s like, ‘Hey, Timmy, so how long have you been colorblind?’”
Tebow was shocked by this news because, as he explained, “How do you know you’re colorblind if nobody tells you?”
“And I was like, ‘Dang, now I have a really good excuse for the interceptions. I couldn’t tell [who was on which team],” he joked.
Tebow continued, “You see, I had a good excuse of why I couldn’t see certain colors, why I couldn’t see certain things the way that I should. Sometimes in life, we don’t see people the way that we should. How do you see people? How do I see people? I tell you, I think I’ve spent many days in my life not seeing people the way that I should.”
The NFL player’s colorblindness came up recently in a pretty hilarious way — the gender reveal party for his and wife Demi-Leigh Tebow’s first baby.
“One thing that they forgot is that I’m colorblind,” Tebow shared while appearing on the SEC Network. “I can tell stark colors. I can tell the difference. But something that is, what do they call it, mauve pink? I don’t know. I’m like, I don’t know what that is.”

To Tebow, the painting that was supposed to reveal their baby’s gender looked “gray-brown.”
“That’s how it looked to me. And so I didn’t want to ruin it,” he continued. “And so Demi’s cheering and then she’s like, ‘It’s a girl’ and then I’m like, ‘Yay, it’s a girl,’ so I was just copying her reaction.”
The Tebows are now parents to Daphne Reign, who was born earlier this summer.
“Here she is — our daughter. Our answered prayer,” the couple wrote in an Instagram post. “Daphne Reign Tebow — created in the image of God. Royalty as His princess. Our biggest prayer over her is to reign in God’s purpose for her life.”
While Tebow’s colorblindness can cause some funny situations, it was also a wake-up call to the football player to rethink what else he might be missing when he sees others.
