Charlie Sheen called the assassination of public speaker and Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk a “seismic” shift in America.

“It was like a giant star in the night sky just went dark,” he said while appearing on the “Impaulsive” podcast, adding that, had Kirk lived, he could have “easily” changed American history.

Sheen continued, “He didn’t belittle anyone, he didn’t demean anyone, he didn’t embarrass anyone. He didn’t go there to, like, be a smarty pants and make you look stupid. He was just like, ‘Hey, man, OK, here’s what I’ve prepared. Here’s what I know, here’s what I believe. Give me your side of it.’”

Podcast host Logan Paul agreed, saying, “I didn’t agree with everything he said, but he always put himself out there and opened the conversation up…He was this articulate young man — I even felt like he could be president one day.”

“If this is where we’ve wound up, this can’t be where we stay,” Sheen said of the violent act. “Like, what words can we all attach to this that make it feel better for us or his family, or just the moment — they haven’t been written, have they?”

Many other Hollywood figures have been speaking out about the effect Kirk’s murder has had on them.

During an interview with Piers Morgan, actor Dennis Quaid said of Kirk, “He leaves me speechless, the example that he was to everybody.”

“He was willing to go into the lion’s den [at colleges]…It wasn’t about his ego [or saying], ‘I got you. I got you.’ It was about really bringing us all together. It was about being a uniter,” he concluded.

Kirk was shot earlier this month while speaking at a campus event at Utah Valley University by 22-year-old Tyler Robinson. He is currently facing charges that include aggravated murder, which carries the potential death penalty in Utah.

Kathryn Nester, a former federal public defender with more than 30 years of experience, has been named as Robinson’s lead counsel.

“This afternoon, the Utah County Commission unanimously approved a contract to appoint legal counsel for Tyler James Robinson, as required under Utah law and after the court determined he couldn’t afford private counsel,” a spokesperson for the Utah County Commission stated

The statement continued, “This action fulfills the Commission’s constitutional responsibility to ensure that individuals accused of a crime — who cannot afford legal representation — are provided with a qualified defense.”

Kirk’s murder has caused people around the world to reflect more deeply on both their faith and their beliefs as we still continue to grapple with this tragedy.
