In the days following the death of Charlie Kirk, church attendance has surged as many turn to faith to make sense of his murder.

“I have not talked to anyone who has not seen an increase in Mass attendance,” Matt Zerrusen, cofounder of the Catholic college organization Newman Ministry, told the Catholic News Agency. “Some schools are reporting increases of 15%.”

He continued, “So many people are asking ‘What do I do?’ What is evil? How does God allow this? They are asking so many basic questions.”

Others have shared their church experiences on social media.

“We went to church today,” one TikTok user shared, per CBN. “It was the first time in 20 years for me and Devin. It was the first time for our children. After the events of the last week, Devin and I had a lot of talking that was happening between us about the type of life that we want for ourselves and how we want our boys to be.”

They continued, “[W]e are raising three boys that will one day be men, and we want those boys to be as strong in their convictions as Charlie Kirk was…It is because of Charlie Kirk that we went to church today.”

“I hope that those of you who went to church for the first time today, I hope that those of you who are buying Bibles for the first time, I hope that those of you who, like us, are returning to church, I hope this journey doesn’t stop for you,” the TikTok user concluded. “And we are making it a mission for us and our family to continue living a life that was worthy of Charlie Kirk’s presence.”

Journalist Nick Sortor shared on X, “Patriots across the country are reporting their Churches are JAMPACKED this Sunday morning in the wake of Charlie Kirk’s kiIIing.”

He quoted X users, with one saying, “The church was full today, parking lot was so full people were parking in the grass. The enemy thought they had won, but you’ve started a mass awakening…This is what [Charlie] would’ve wanted most, a massive revival.”

“Church was full this morning. Not a single open seat,” another posted, while someone else wrote, “On our way to Church for the first time in at least 15 years. You did it Charlie!”

Sortor concluded, “This is EXACTLY what Charlie wanted.”

Kirk’s assassination has led many around the world to turn to faith and church as they try to come to terms with what happened and figure out what the future looks like.
