James Gunn, co-CEO of DC Studios, says Wonder Woman and The Flash will appear in new content “eventually.”

When “Peacemaker” podcast co-host Steve Agee noted that kids in a PEACEMAKER Season 1 classroom scene mention the two heroes, Gunn said, “Yeah, are they canon? I don’t know. We’ll have to wait and see. I mean, they’ll exist eventually. Whether they exist now, I don’t know.”

Gunn previously said Ezra Miller’s cameo as The Flash in Season 1, with the Justice League, was not DCU canon, Super Hero Hype reported. He also said The Flash and Aquaman wouldn’t appear in the DCU for two years or more.

Gunn said Wonder Woman would appear, but she will be different than how she’s been portrayed recently. DC Studios currently has a Wonder Woman project underway.

PEACEMAKER Season 2 releases on Aug. 21.

“It’s a big part, definitely SUPERMAN leads directly into PEACEMAKER; it should be noted that this is for adults, not for children, but SUPERMAN leads into this show and then we have the setting up of all of the rest of the DCU in this season of PEACEMAKER, it’s incredibly important,” Gunn told The Hollywood Reporter. “Lots of guest stars coming up, lots of characters that are showing up that we’ve already met in SUPERMAN. I don’t think there’s anything that I’ve ever done that I love more than this season of PEACEMAKER, so I’m so excited for people to see it.”

PEACEMAKER star John Cena said the new season is about building on the narrative and intertwining characters in the DCU.

“…as you saw Peacemaker show up in SUPERMAN. I think what you see in season two is just a forward of that narrative,” he told THR. “That whole DCU throughline — it takes the 11th Street Kids through their next adventure, but it also has a lot to do with the DCU going forward.”

ComicBook asked Gunn if Peacemaker will ever get his own feature-length film, and Gunn gave a cryptic answer.

“I actually know the answer to that question. And I am not at liberty to say under penalty of the Safran punishment, which is a loss of my knuckle. Every time I give away something, Peter Safran will take away another joint of my finger,” he joked of his co-CEO.

“It’s very painful. He uses a cigar cutter,” he quipped.

Movieguide® wrote of PEACEMAKER Season 1: “DC’s PEACEMAKER is a morally repulsive, vulgar and juvenile affair. It is a sour mix of family trauma, shock humor and forced ‘identity politics.’…It is full of excessive gore, sex, nudity, and swearing. For a TV-MA production, Movieguide® strongly warns adults to skip this unholy series.”

Hopefully the next season will avoid these abhorrent themes.
