CeCe Winans has experienced the highs and lows of faith throughout her life, so she knows the importance of trusting God regardless of what happens.
“We receive miracles, and sometimes we don’t. Or, you know, things go our way, and sometimes they don’t go our way. So, it’s our faith and our love for God that gives us the joy and understanding of His character, and that He’s sovereign and He has all power,” the Grammy winner told TBN. “I remember when we lost my brother Ronald, and the doctor came out and said, ‘He’s dead. And you guys need to just — ’ And my father said, ‘Look, can we just pray for you? Can we lay hands on you?’ And the doctor said, ‘Well, okay.’ And we all laid hands on him, praying in the spirit. I’m sure he was like, ‘What’s going on?’ But he went back in there, the next words he heard was, ‘Ronald’s going to recovery.’ And he went on to live another eight years.”

“And after that, we were back in the hospital with Ronald, and we prayed, and it didn’t turn out the way it did the first time did,” Winans continued. “You know, he went on to be with the Lord. It was a huge disappointment. I remember my sister saying, ‘How we going to make on without Ronald?’ I was like, ‘I don’t know. I don’t know. But God knows how we going to make it without him.’ You know, and God will carry you through any storm, you know.”
This incredible faith keeps Winans grounded as many see her as a leader in the gospel music space. She’s won 17 Grammys since she received her first award in 1987. This confidence in the Lord, though, grew over a lifetime — not all at once after she asked Him to be her savior.
In May 2024, she revealed that if she could go back in time, she would tell herself to have more trust in the Lord instead of trying to do everything herself.
“I would just say, ‘Chill out,’” she told TBN. “You know, you worry about things because, for some reason, you don’t think God is going to handle it. And I can look back and say, ‘Man, everything I had to face, He was right there, and he really did step up to the plate and He took care of it.’”
Winans’ faith is an inspiration for us as we all face trials and triumphs in life, and if we follow her lead and place our trust in the Lord, we will remain steady and rooted through it all.
