Olympic gold medalist Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone captured the sweet moment she told her husband, Andre, that he would be a father.

“Telling my husband I’m pregnant fresh off a flight at 6am,” the track star captioned a video she shared on Instagram.

The adorable video sees Andre walk in to a room where Sydney had set up a stuffed animal, a little pair of shoes and the positive pregnancy test on the bed. It took a moment, but when Andre realized the news, he couldn’t contain his excitement, picking up his wife and spinning her around.

“Sydney…what do you mean?!” he exclaimed. “Did you know for awhile?…You’ve been peeing on sticks and you wasn’t telling me?”

“I kept it a secret for a WHOLE WEEK,” McLaughlin-Levrone wrote over the video.

She and Andre are thrilled to be parents.

“I mean, it’s something we had talked about for years and desired. Obviously, trying to figure out schedules and career and all those things,” the track and field star shared on the “Bodega Track” podcast. “It’s something we were super excited to be able to pursue. I found out — I knew for like a week before he found out. Afterward, he was like, ‘You knew for a week?'”

“I was like every day I just wanted to blurt it out, but I wanted to do something special,” she continued. “So I surprised him one day when he had flown into New York to meet me, and he was literally just stuck. It was the sweetest reaction ever.”

Even though McLaughlin-Levrone is pregnant, she is still training.

“It’s nowhere near the intensity or frequency that it once was, but it’s just trying to maintain some level of fitness and normality in my life throughout the pregnancy,” she said.

“…there are so many changes, and I have to learn to be patient and have grace with myself, which is a challenge but a good challenge in many ways,” she added.

McLaughlin-Levrone also discussed the intimidation that could come with returning to the track after having her baby.

“I think there’s the honest assessment of oneself of what my career looks like post-pregnancy,” she explained. “Those are conversations my husband and I had early on — what if I’m not the same athlete coming back? What if I’m not as fast?”

“Those are valid questions, especially when that’s been my whole life for so long and all I’ve ever known. But at the end of the day, I’ve also known my whole life that I wanted to be a mom. That’s a beautiful opportunity and journey that we’re on, and I’m going to cherish that for what it is. It’ll bring a different type of motivation coming back to the track once we make it through this,” she emphasized.

The couple announced in late January that they were expecting their first.

“Made a human with my favorite human,” McLaughlin-Levrone posted on Instagram. “Oh, how we have prayed for you…and the Lord has answered!! You are our greatest blessing and are already so loved. We are eagerly waiting to meet you! 🫶🏽🤍 Cool parents loading…”

Sydney and Andre are certainly going to be wonderful parents!
