When the chaos of this world seems greater than we can handle, we need to turn our eyes to the One who calms the storm.
“Are you letting the chaos of this world get the best of you?” Christian singer Danny Gokey asked on Instagram. “Stop & tune in to the Sounds of Heaven instead! There’s ALWAYS joy to be found and a song to be sung, even on the darkest days.”
In the video, he sings:
I’ve been listenin’ to the sound of this world
This place is crazy, makes me wanna stay in bed
I’ve been countin’ all my worries and my problems
I gotta stop to count my blessings insteadI woke up, I breathe in

My heart is beatin’
Every day is a gift
Oh, thank You, Jesus
Can’t believe I get to do this life againI can hear thе sound of Heaven
Nevеr heard a better melody
Yeah, I can hear the sound of Heaven
Oh, and it sounds like joy to me
Traded my pain for a new perspective
Traded my worries for a song
Yeah, I can hear the sound of HeavenAnd I just gotta sing along
The AMERICAN IDOL alum also spoke up after Charlie Kirk’s murder two weeks ago.
“We’re the land of the free and the home of the brave, because some were brave,” Gokey said on Instagram, accompanied by his song “Brave.” “Charlie Kirk was an embodiment the definition of brave and courageous, and it’s a tragedy in our nation that he’s gone. But now it’s time for the next generation of brave men and women to stand up. I have a song called ‘Brave’ I want to share with you because I believe this is what the American spirit is all about.”
Though he released the song a few years ago, its lyrics ring even truer today:
Be brave
Stand up for freedom, stand for truth Don’t be afraid You gotta voice that you can use So go on, speak out The time is right now If you wanna keep that flame of liberty ablaze Stand up and be brave Oh, stand up and be brave
“The foundation of our country was built on bravery,” the Wisconsin native said following the song’s release in 2023. “In our Constitution is the pursuit of happiness with liberty, freedom and justice for all, that all men were created equal. That’s a brave move because they had a fight to get that. It wasn’t weak men who founded the United States, it was brave men. Every generation has a choice to exemplify that bravery so that the boundaries of freedom stay where they’re supposed to stay and not close in.”
Amid so much tragedy and chaos, we should follow Gokey’s lead and stand up for what is right, turning our eyes to the author and perfecter of our faith.
