New England Patriots rookie TreVeyon Henderson played the game of his career on Sunday and gave all the credit to God.

The Patriots faced the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on the road, where Henderson rushed for 147 yards. He “broke free for two, long second-half touchdown jaunts to separate from Tampa Bay (6-3). They were the second and third touchdowns of Henderson’s young NFL career, and his second one proved to be the winning score,” Sports Spectrum reported.

In a post-game press conference, Henderson told the media, “Honestly man, I really just thank God. It was a tough game. It was a really tough game, and we knew it was gonna be tough going into it. A lot of ups and downs during that game, but specifically during those down moments, I was just trying my best to lean on God to pick me up and give me the strength to keep going.”

When asked about his professional career thus far, Henderson again put the focus back on God.

“It comes with a lot of ups and downs here in the NFL, and I’m learning that,” the running back said. “But I thank God for the way that He’s allowed it to go, because He’s matured me a lot in my faith. He drew me closer to Him. He’s been drawing me closer to Him during the season and just helping me to keep my eyes on Him.”

“… At the end of the day, I want God to have His way. Not my will but His will be done,” he emphasized.

On Monday, Henderson shared several photos from his breakthrough game. In the first photo, he could be seen gesturing towards the sky.

He captioned the post with Psalms 143:8, 10, which reads, “Let me hear of your unfailing love each morning, for I am trusting you. Show me where to walk, for I give myself to you. Teach me to do your will, for you are my God. May your gracious Spirit lead me forward on a firm footing.”

Henderson also makes his faith known through his “Jesus Won” shirts, which are also available for purchase.

“Jesus laid down His life for you and me and shed His blood to pay the price that we deserve to pay for our sins. Three days later, He rose, overcoming the power of sin that leads to eternal death. Through this, we can be forgiven and we can receive eternal life and enter the Kingdom of Heaven if we repent and have faith in Jesus Christ,” the athlete shared.

Henderson’s powerful witness to God after his breakthrough performance will certainly encourage his fans to learn more about his faith.
