A newly-released trailer for TOY STORY 5 gives audiences a first-look at the tech-filled toy creating problems for Woody, Buzz and Jessie.
“In the teaser, fans are introduced to the new character Lilypad, a high-tech frog-shaped smart tablet voiced by Greta Lee,” a press release from Disney and Pixar shared. “[Lilypad] makes Buzz, Woody, Jessie and the rest of the gang’s jobs exponentially harder when they have to go head to head with the all-new threat to playtime.”

In addition to Lee, Tom Hanks, Tim Allen and Joan Cusack are reprising their roles. Former late night host Conan O’Brien is also joining the cast, voicing new character Smarty Pants.
“It’s been a hilarious and poignant journey exploring how our favorite team of legacy toys might respond to today’s world of technology, and we’re thrilled to share this first glimpse with audiences,” director Andrew Stanton and co-director Kenna Harris said in a statement. “Having the remarkably talented Greta Lee bring Lilypad to life — balancing a playfully antagonistic tone with humor and heart — has been incredible.”
Tony Hale, who will reprise his role as Forky, told Nexus Point News, “The whole concept of toy versus tech is so needed right now, especially with where the world is. Pixar is a master of putting out amazing movies that are very deep, so I’m really interested to see how they deal with that.”
While plot details are scarce, Allen has let a few details slip, telling WIVB, “I can tell you that it’s a lot about Jessie. Tom [Hanks] and I do — Woody and I — do realign. And there’s an unbelievable opening scene with Buzz Lightyears. I can give you that, but I can’t give you much more.”
In a 2024 interview with Collider, the HOME IMPROVEMENT star shared that TOY STORY 5 is “a very, very clever story.”
“I don’t really believe it’s about the money. I’m sure they want it to be a success, but that’s not why they did it,” Allen said. “Had they not come up with a brilliant script, they wouldn’t have done it and they wouldn’t have called me and Tom [Hanks]. It’s really clever.”
He continued, “It was really a struggle to get, and then maybe two hours in, I was doing Buzz. I’m so blessed to be Buzz Lightyear, to be honest. It’s gonna be fun. I think we’re a year out. I’ve gotten up to the third act. We’ll do the third act. And then, we’ll go back and clean it. And then, I’ll do it about five more times. It’s a really good story, guys. It’s really good.”
TOY STORY 5 hits theaters June 19, 2026.
