A new trailer for the highly anticipated MALCOLM IN THE MIDDLE: LIFE’S STILL UNFAIR revival series dropped last week, sparking even more excitement for the series which will release in April.

The trailer begins with Frankie Muniz’s Malcolm saying, “My life is fantastic now. All I had to do was stay away from my family!” Throughout the comedic trailer, family members mention how Malcom has been running away. One person tells him “You can’t spend the rest of your life hiding and denying your family even exists.”

This is the first major trailer for the series. A short teaser was released on Hulu’s Instagram early December.

People in the comment section expressed excitement for the reprise.

“One of the best shows I’ve ever seen! I’m so ready!” one person said. Another person joked, “Dewey’s class pet hamster is still alive?!?! 😂”

LIFE’S STILL UNFAIR comes nearly two decades after the original MALCOLM IN THE MIDDLE series, which won seven primetime Emmys and 26 additional nominations, ended. It sees much of the original cast reprise their roles in the Wilkerson family as Malcolm, now adult, tries to move on from his chaotic childhood, until his parents, Hal (Bryan Cranston) and Lois (Jane Kaczmarek), insist he come home for their 40th wedding anniversary.

“When I was doing Malcolm 20 years ago, I was a kid,” Muniz said in a recent interview with PEOPLE. The original show ran on Fox from 2000-2006. “I was like 13 to 20 when I was on the show,” he continued, “and I just kind of showed up and was excited to be there and said the words that were on the paper, and it worked.”

He added, “As an adult, you tend to overthink things…and you put more pressure on yourself as well. So I didn’t know what it was gonna be like, if it was going to be easy to be Malcolm, if it was gonna be awkward back with the cast. And not to sound like cliché, but it was as if not a single day went by. All of us, every single person, like instantly fell back into their characters with, I’m talking the first table read.”

MALCOM IN THE MIDDLE: LIFE’S STILL UNFAIR is set to release to Hulu on April 10, 2026.
