DUCK DYNASTY star Will Robertson opened up about the impact his adoption had on his relationship with God.
“You don’t have to be blood to be family,” he explained in a video for I AM SECOND.
Robertson was adopted by Willie and Korie Robertson at five weeks old and always felt like part of the family. However, once DUCK DYNASTY began airing and people around the country started to ask questions about him and his adoption, he began to question things.
“It messed with me just a little bit,” he said. “I wondered who I was outside of the Robertson family.”

Something that helped was finally meeting his birth family when he was in middle school, including Will, a school friend who, unbeknownst to the two boys, was actually Robertson’s younger brother.
“I never felt any resentment because I know that [my birth mother] had stuff that she needed to figure out with God,” he said. “Discovering my birth family was something that I never could have imagined. I absolutely, 100% think that God had His hand over everything about this story.”
Robertson continued, “I have my father, Willie Robertson, and then I have my heavenly father who, in both ways, adopted me into their family…that really shows just the power and the blessing of adoption.”
Today, Robertson works as a worship artist. His debut song, “Home,” released this summer. He told Parade the song’s inspiration was “honestly just the whole idea of home.”
“And, for me, it’s wherever God has called me to, [which is] really just back home for my wife and I in Louisiana,” Robertson continued.
He added that, while pursuing music means “stepping out of my comfort zone,” he’s focused on “listening to the Lord and just following with where He’s calling us.”
Robertson even performed at sister Sadie Robertson Huff’s LO Sister Conference this year.

Robertson’s story is a powerful example of the importance of family, in whatever form it takes.
