More Detail:
Netflix’s animated LLAMA LLAMA THANKS FOR GIVING DAY is the first half of an episode about Llama and his friends, who decide to plan a day thanking all the community helpers after Officer Flamingo sprains his ankle. The episode has great animation quality as well as strong voicework from the actors.
This episode begins with Safety Officer Flamingo giving a safety presentation to Llama and his friends. He explains that tomorrow they will be celebrating Safety Day. He points out that the orange cones are reminders to stop, look, and listen. As he warns the children to be careful around the cones, he slips and twists his ankle. When the children point out that he did all those things, he adds that they should probably add “look” again. The doctor tells him he will need to use crutches and stay off his ankle. Officer Flamingo is sure this won’t stop him from doing his job!
The next day, he attempts to direct traffic while using crutches. Llama’s parents offer to help him. Llama tells them it is so nice that they are helping him. Mama tells them that it is a way to say thank you. The kids offer help, too. They realize that Officer Flamingo really does many jobs and puts in much hard work. Around the kitchen table, they discuss how the different grown-ups around them help out in town, such as the librarian at the library, volunteer firefighters, and neighbors’ kindness. Realizing that many helpers keep the town going, they need them to keep doing what they do.
Llama suggests doing something extra special for the helpers to say thank you. With Llama’s parents, they go around town helping different helpers however they can. After visiting a few helpers, they decide to pull their resources together to throw a new special celebration tradition called “Thanks for Giving Day” just for them.
