For HGTV’s Jenny Marrs, trusting in God is “foundational” for her, in good times and bad.

“I had to really sometimes jump off the cliff and just take the God adventure,” she told THE 700 CLUB.

One of those “God adventures?” Her and husband Dave’s decision to join HGTV with their show FIXER TO FABULOUS.

“It was just God. I mean, that’s all I can say,” Marrs explained. “He had this in our path.”

The couple had been renovating homes in their town of Bentonville, Arkansas, for years when an HGTV employee happened to visit a friend who lived there. They began asking about people who worked on houses, and the Marrs’ name came up.

However, when the couple was asked how they would feel about starring in their own show, they didn’t immediately jump at the chance.

“A lot of prayer went into that decision of saying yes, and we feel like God told us, ‘Yes, do this, this is something I want you to do,’” she explained.

That faith leads Marrs and her family in all aspects of their lives, through the good times and the bad.

“The trusting has come from all the lessons of Him saying, ‘Be still faithful. I am faithful, you can trust me,’” she said. “And He’s shown Himself time and time again. Even in hard seasons, when the answer was no, or I was waiting, He still showed Himself to me.”

Marrs added, “The trustworthiness of God is just something that has to be…foundational for us.”

It’s a topic Marrs goes into further in her latest book, Trust God, Love People.

“I believe the world needs this message more than ever,” she wrote in an Instagram caption about the book’s content. “My prayer is that these stories will encourage every reader to look at God’s faithfulness in their own life in order to trust Him more fully, and, most importantly, that they will be inspired to pour out extravagant love on the people in their life. No prerequisites, just kindness born out of love.”

In an interview with Country Living, the HGTV star shared, “My hope is that it encourages people — especially those in a waiting season…Even if you’re not in a hard season right now, those seasons are still going to come. That’s just the reality of life. There’s joy and sorrow, often at the same time.”

“But if you can create this act of remembering not just happy times, but the faithfulness of God that you’ve seen in your life, then when you’re in those harder, darker moments, you can look back and say, ‘I’ve been here before, and God proved faithful,’” Marrs concluded.

Throughout good seasons and bad, Marrs relies on her faith in God’s plan for her life.
