Houston Texans star linebacker Will Anderson Jr. gave God the glory after a dramatic playoff win Monday night against the Pittsburgh Steelers.

“Yeah, first thing, I give all glory to God. Man, thank you, Jesus Christ. Man, we have a scripture saying, ‘Let your light shine before others that when people see us play, they glorify Your name,'” he told NFL ON ESPN after the game, quoting Matthew 5:16. “So just a shout out to Jesus Christ, man.”

Late in the fourth quarter, Texans DT Sheldon Rankins “returned a Rodgers fumble for a touchdown. It was part of a 23-point fourth quarter for the Texans,” per ESPN. Anderson dreamed that would happen.

“And I told Rank, as I said, ‘Rank, I had a dream you had a scoop, but I don’t know what’s gonna happen after that.’ And the dream came true…I’m so happy to have him back here. He was a big help for my rookie year, and to be able to be in the playoffs with him again, man, is just spectacular,” Anderson shared.

The Texans secured a 30-6 victory over the Steelers.

The athlete, who boldly proclaims “GOD DID!” in his Instagram bio, has always been open about his faith. Before the 2024 season, he told the media that his focus was more on God than football.

“My focus is just less on what everybody has to say and more on God,” Anderson said. “I think my biggest thing is knowing that, like I always tell y’all, my approval comes from Him. Ultimately, everything that I achieve in this lifetime, I’m putting Him first for it, because He’s the reason why I’m here.”

“I think that’s the difference. Like, this year I’m like, ‘God, whether it’s a good game or bad game — anything — You’re gonna get the praise and glory for it. I’m gonna let You use me however You want to use me each game,’” he continued. “I just want to be a servant, be a leader and be a blessing to my teammates and help them out in any type of way. So that’s my whole thing coming into this year. It’s like, ‘God, however You want to use me, I just want to be a blessing to this team.’”

The Texans advance to the NFL Divisional Round, where they will face the New England Patriots. No matter what happens next, Anderson remains confident in his faith in God.
