FULL HOUSE’s Candace Cameron Bure thinks dating apps cause a “loss of human connection.”
“What I believe is lost today is human connection,” the Teddy Bear Award® winner said in a recent episode of her podcast with BACHELOR star Madi Prewett Troutt. “Because of our phones, because of social media, because of dating apps.”
She added that she knows they can be a good tool for some people.
“But it’s really, like you said, a person’s not going to drop on your front door like an Amazon package,” Bure continued. “So you do have to put yourself out there and not hide behind your phone or the screen or be afraid to have a real conversation with someone to talk to them on the phone and not just text them.”

Bure believes if a woman wants to date, then she should put herself in places where she could find the type of man she wants.
“You might find him [in a bar],” Candace joked. “But [it] might not be the best place.”
In 2019, before any of her children married, Bure told Us Weekly, “I feel great about them dating in the sense that they have a good head on their shoulders. They’re all looking for good people to hang out with, or date, looking for a wife, looking for a husband and I’m proud of that…I wish that they would date more in a sense!”
In 2023, Troutt actually partnered with a Christian dating app, Upward Christian Dating.
“I think one of the hardest things about dating is you’re going on a date and you haven’t asked all those, like, hard questions. ‘Where’s your faith? What are your values? How were you raised? What do you hope for your future?’ And I think something that’s cool is with Upward, you know, you’re kind of already doing that front work early on,” she explained at the time.
“And so you’re able to get on this app and know when you’re looking at some of these people — sure there’s different levels — but hopefully everyone on this app has the same beliefs and values,” she said.
She also expressed the importance of not waiting for someone to just show up.
“I think sometimes we have to realize [that] we have to step out of the boat and we have to take a step of faith and courage,” she said. “…Set yourself up for success by putting yourself in situations and environments to meet the right people.”
Bure and Troutt will explore more themes of bold faith in Bure’s upcoming podcast episodes.
