In a thrilling 30-6 victory over the Pittsburgh Steelers, the Houston Texans battled the entire game to move on to the Divisional Round on Sunday.

After the game, head coach DeMeco Ryans gave God all the glory.

“First and foremost, for me, I just want to give all praise, honor and glory to our God,” he declared in the post-game press conference. “He’s been gracious to us and our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. What a game, what a performance by our guys. And guys just continue to let their light shine through how they’re playing.”

“So proud of our team, proud of the effort and how we finished the game,” Ryans continued. “It wasn’t pretty from the start, and we had some poor moments in the game, but I’m just proud of our guys for continuing to remain resilient no matter what happened in that game. No one’s faith wavered throughout that game. Guys played under control. Guys played the right way and finished it the right way to give us the victory.”

The Texans were held together by their defense on Monday night, as the Steelers’ offense only had 175 total yards and two field goals.

The Texans defense accumulated “four sacks, 17 QB pressures, 12 QB hits, two forced fumbles, nine tackles for loss, a fumble returned for a touchdown by Sheldon Rankins, and a pick-six to close out the proceedings by Calen Bullock.”

“It was an outstanding defensive performance,” the head coach said, per ESPN. “One of the best that I’ve seen versus a really talented offense, talented quarterback who has played at a high level for a long time.”

Quarterback CJ Stroud struggled to find his rhythm in the game as he had three turnovers. Up until the fourth quarter, it was anyone’s game.

However, the defense ultimately got the momentum rolling for the Texans to seal the win.

“Shoot, I think everybody knows we are the best defense,” Bullock told the media. “The whole world knows that. Every time we go out there, we show it, and we went out there and showed it today. I don’t even think they scored a touchdown.”

Evidently, the Steelers did not know that, because they were unable to persevere past the defensive line of the Texans.

“Our guys they were locked in. That’s the thing that I could see. Those guys were locked in,” Ryans commended the team, per the NFL. “The way we tackle was really the key, and can’t say much about this performance without talking about the third downs. Like that was the game. Like we got off the field on third downs defensively. I think they only converted two and then for us offensively we converted 10 of 16. So that’s the game right there. That allowed us to stay on the field offensively, and defense was able to get off on thirds, which was very vital to our success.”

The Texans now prepare to face a tough New England patriots team led by Drake Maye and TreVeyon Henderson. The game is set for Sunday at 3:00 p.m.
