Fans of the NCIS universe will have to wait a little longer than expected for new episodes for the franchise’s Tuesday-night lineup.

CBS announced that NCIS, NCIS: ORIGINS and NCIS: SYDNEY, which were originally scheduled to return from their winter breaks on Tuesday, Feb. 24, have been pushed back by one week, now airing on Tuesday, March 3.

The main reason for the change is that President Donald Trump’s 2026 State of the Union Address will take place on Feb. 24 at 9 p.m.

NCIS, the original flagship show, last aired a new episode on Dec. 16, 2025. The fall finale featured a dramatic twist as Jess, played by Katrina Law, finally received her first assignment with the elite NCIS team. That assignment was to pursue former colleague Ellie Bishop, played by Emily Wickersham, who left the show in Season 18 after eight years.

NCIS: ORIGINS concluded its fall run a week earlier, on Dec. 9, with the unexpected wedding of agent Gibbs, played by Austin Stowell, and Diane, played by Kathleen Kenny. This twist came as a major surprise to viewers.

NCIS: SYDNEY, the Australian spinoff, has also been rescheduled. Although its fall finale had been set for Dec. 16, that episode was pulled following a tragic mass shooting on Bondi Beach earlier that week. As a result, the series’ most recent new episode aired on Dec. 9.

Movieguide® previously reviewed a Season 22 NCIS episode, giving it a -1 content score. Part of the review reads:

NCIS: ‘Sticks & Stones’ is excellent. It has lots of exciting tension and funny humor. There’s even a little romance between the medical examiner, Jimmy, and Agent Jessica Knight. NCIS: “Sticks & Stones” has a strong Christian worldview. One major character’s Christian faith solves the conflict over launching the tactical nukes. The character says he’s guided by his faith. He recalls his father preaching the Gospel and his mother leading the church choir.

The review also notes that “NCIS: ‘Sticks & Stones’ does have some light foul language, though. So, MOVIEGDUIDE® advises caution for older children.”

One NCIS show, NCIS: TONY & ZIVA, won’t be coming back ever. CBS pulled the plug after its first season which streamed on Paramount+.

“We feel incredibly lucky to have had the chance to play these characters once again and to tell the next chapter of Tony and Ziva’s story,” Michael Weatherly and Cote de Pablo, who played Tony and Ziva, respectively, said in a joint statement. “Our deepest thanks go to our extraordinary cast, crew, writers, directors, and producers, and to our partners at CBS Studios and Paramount+ who helped make this dream a reality. But most of all, we want to thank the fans around the world who joined us on this adventure and finally got to see Tony and Ziva find their happily ever after.”

Fans are disappointed.

“Can we PLEASE have Tony & Ziva back in 2026, it’s all we ask,” one person commented under a recent NCIS Instagram post. Another person added, “2026 will be even better than 2025 if we can #savetonyandziva.”

According to Variety, the show was canceled due to a 51% drop in viewership.

While fans will have to wait a little longer than expected for new NCIS, NCIS: ORIGINS and NCIS: SYDNEY episodes, they’ll certainly be worth the wait.
