HGTV’s Jenny Marrs shared her tips for how to start the new year with intention, from setting aside time to reflect to recording your thoughts.
“I strongly believe in the practice of intentionally remembering God’s faithfulness in my life,” she wrote in an Instagram post. “Today, I encourage you to remember. Take some time and reflect on all that has transpired over the past 365 days. The good and the bad, the joy and the sorrow.”
Marrs recommended reading Deuteronomy 7:18-19 and reflecting on “God’s faithfulness in [your] life,” as well as creating set time to reflect and meditate. She also encouraged her followers to record special memories to later look back on and remember God’s faithfulness.

In a follow-up post, Marrs wrote, “I hope this can serve as a guide to help you begin your new year on a foundation of gratitude and prayer. Because, despite the heartaches and sorrows of this past year, we are simply ‘travelers passing through’ (Psalm 39:12b) here on earth.”
“And, when we take the time to look at even the most mundane moments through a lens of gratitude, our perspective shifts and this old, weary world feels a little less heavy. We can look ahead with a stubborn resoluteness and choose to ‘still dare to hope.’ (Lamentations 3:21 NLT),” she concluded.
Marrs wrote, “Look ahead,” explaining that by setting out prayers for the coming year, you can “redirect [your] heart, attitude, and actions to the One who authors [your] story.”
“Most important,” she continued. “Know that there is no right or wrong way to do this…simply take a deep breath and ask God to align your heart and your prayers with His, and begin.”
The FIXER TO FABULOUS star recently reflected on her past year and shared the hopes she has for 2026.
“2025 was a really, really hard year for our family, yet, as I read through my prayers from 365 days ago, I see God’s hand all over my life and the lives of those I love,” she wrote in an Instagram post. “I’m ending this year a bit melancholy, sad to step into a new one without four dearly, dearly loved ones and our Dolly-girl, but I’m also grateful. I’m grateful for the nearness of God through it all and for the gentle way He continues to restore my soul despite the presence of sorrow.”
Marrs continued, “I can look ahead with a defiant Hope, for I know there will always be troubles but I can also ‘remain confident of this: I will see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living.’ God led me to Psalm 27:13 as an anchor to hold tightly to over this next year and I will continue to look for His goodness each and every day.”
“May 2026 be a year of joy-filled moments, new adventures, peaceful days, and deep, soul rest,” she finished.
Marrs’ messages are a great way to start the new year off on the right foot, strengthening your relationship with God and focusing on your blessings.
