For Danny Go! creator Danny Coleman, creating children’s content while his own son was sick came with its own challenges.

“There’s the other side of doing kids content when your kid is not healthy, that is difficult,” the content creator told Time recently.

Coleman’s 14-year-old son Isaac tragically died on May 21. He was born with Fanconi anemia and battled other significant health challenges through his life. In late 2025, Isaac was diagnosed with an aggressive cancer.

“I don’t know how you know how things will go over the next few months, to be honest, but I want to believe that there’s enough light on the other side, and especially just seeing how much this show means to, not just kids, but other families that are experiencing painful situations,” Coleman said a month before Isaac’s death.

Coleman hears plenty of stories from his fans that break his heart, but they also give him a reason to keep going.

“We hear a lot of stories, some of them very sad, and honestly quite overwhelming, like the number of sad stories that you hear,” he explained, “but that can be kind of fuel for wanting to continue even when things feel painful at home.”

He added, “Anytime there’s a light to it, or you know, your show meant a lot to this kid, or if it’s a sibling that was lost, and then the remaining one, you know, the show is kind of the connection, like that’s the stuff, you know, that’s why you do it.”

Coleman said that knowing the show helps others is enough to continue.

“I feel like that’s enough fuel to get through…anything, and you know, to want to keep going, for me personally, at least, so I’m hoping that’s on where I land in my soul on all of it. I think it will be, but we’ll see,” he said.

People in the comment section of the video commented on Coleman’s strength.

“For this guy to continue delivering happiness to families while he himself is experiencing unfathomable pain…what incredible strength. I’ll always be a fan of Danny Go,” one person said.

Another wrote, “First time I see the person behind the character, and breaks my heart to feel his sadness :(“

Following Isaac’s death, Coleman posted a heartfelt tribute to his son.

“Your 14 years were full of so many challenges, but you met them all with such grit…and you somehow kept your trademark joy in spite of it all,” he said. “You truly had a spark like no other, Isaac!”

Please keep the Coleman family in your prayers as the continue to mourn Isaac’s death.
