Jenny Marrs is encouraging others to defeat fear and believe for God’s best.
In a post to Instagram, she shared a photo of her and her children jumping into beautiful blue water while on vacation with an encouraging caption.
“This morning, I read God’s words to a hesitant Jacob: ‘I am God’ the voice said, ‘the God of your father. Do not be afraid to go down to Egypt, for I will see to it that you become a great nation there.’ (Genesis 46:3, NLT),” she began.
While reading this scripture, a note that she had previously written stood out to her.
“In the margin, my note from a past study jumped out: ‘Do not let fear of the unknown keep you from experiencing God’s best,’” she explained.
She continues, “Reading, I was reminded of this seemingly small leap of faith from earlier this summer. I tried multiple times to climb up onto the second deck of the boat and jump but I was too afraid to actually make the leap. The kids would cheer me on and encourage me (Luke said, “come on, mom! You’re a warrior!) but I just couldn’t do it. Instead, I’d climb back down with shaky knees, defeated.”
Although she was afraid, Marrs made the decision to face her fears.
“After countless attempts (over many days), I finally declared my authority of this darn fear of heights that taunts me,” she said. “I jumped alongside my kids and their cheers and encouragement afterward felt like ‘God’s best’ in that moment. Pure joy!”
She concluded by saying how she wanted to share this moment to encourage others to do stand up to what holds them back.
“I’ll share these words again in case someone else also needs the reminder. Read them slowly and let them sink in: ‘Do not let fear of the unknown keep you from experiencing God’s best.’

People in the comment section were grateful for Marrs’ message. “Love this and how powerful was that leap of faith!!” one person said. Another person added, “We have taken several leaps of faith in our lives and God has always been there to catch us and guide us.”
Although she may be best known for her role of hosting HGTV’s FIXER TO FABULOUS where she and her husband Dave renovate homes, Marrs frequently uses her platform to encourage others in their faith. Recently, she announced an upcoming book she wrote titled “Trust God, Love People,” which will release in October.
In a separate Instagram post, she said, “It’s my heart on the page and I am so proud of it while also holding it loosely. Who knows what God will do with the stories He’s entrusted me with. I’m extremely nervous and extremely grateful to get to share them with the world very soon.”
Marrs’ story is a reminder that wherever our influence is in life, we can face our fear and encourage those around us.
