Titiana Jordan, an internet child safety expert, explained why Roblox is so dangerous for kids and how parents can work their children off of the game entirely.

“[Roblox] is rife with predators, sexual content, graphic violent content, you name it. I could go on about Roblox, but what I specifically want to address are the videos I’m seeing of their parents who are realizing they need to get their kid off Roblox, but don’t know how,” Jordan said.

“I’ve been there, here are the three things I would do: One, sit down with your child and talk to them about what you’re learning. In age-appropriate terms, share with them the dangers you want to protect them from…” she continued. “Two, work through what you can replace Roblox with…Three, stand your ground. Even after having the conversation, it may be hard for you kid to come to terms with your rule. That’s okay. Trust me, they will adjust, and they’ll be safer in the long run.”

Internet safety experts have been warning parents for years about the dangers associated with Roblox. As it has become one of the biggest games on the market, it has attracted the attention of many bad actors who use the platform to reach and exploit children. From sexual exploitation to gambling, Roblox has faced many serious allegations about how the game places kids in danger.

Last year, the National Center on Sexual Exploitation (NCOSE) published a scathing report that revealed how hundreds of thousands of Roblox players use the site to generate and trade child sexual abuse material (CSAM).

“A new report describes Roblox as ‘a pedophile hellscape for kids.’ Researchers easily identified 38 Roblox groups — one with as many as 103,000 members — openly trading CSAM and soliciting sexual acts from minors,” NCOSE reported.

While Roblox has since tried to clean up its act and implement a new safety system, these changes have not been entirely successful as bad actors have still been able to reach kids. This is especially concerning as Roblox receives the green light from multiple major brands such as Netflix and Sesame Street who are now publishing officially licensed games on the platform.

Even as major corporations show approval for Roblox, parents need to understand that the site remains unsafe for kids as they can still be targeted and exploited by predators. As Jordan alludes, it may be best to get your kids off the site entirely.
