Rock Singer Isn’t Afraid to Share Faith On Stage: ‘Greatest Thing I Can Do’

By Movieguide® Contributor

3 Doors Down frontman Brad Arnold will continue to share his faith onstage, calling it “the greatest thing” he can do.

“I don’t really talk a whole lot on stage, to be quite honest,” he told Fox News. “But — if I’m going to use a moment on stage to talk, then I want to give glory to God. And I want to take a chance to tell people that Jesus loves them when there may be some people that may not hear it from another place.”

Arnold went viral earlier this summer after speaking about his faith during a concert.

“This world surrounds us with the message we’ll never be good enough, we’ll never be strong enough, we’ll never be beautiful enough, we’ll never be rich enough,” he told concert-goers. “Whatever the case may be. Social media surrounds us with those messages all the time. It’s driven down our throats every day, that we’ll never be good enough and nobody really, really loves us.”

Arnold continued, “My friends, I just want to take a second to tell you, that’s an absolute lie. You are loved. You are enough, and you will win. Not only can you win, but you will win. You’ll always be enough for one reason. And that’s because Jesus Christ loves you.”

The singer told Fox News he had “apprehensions” about doing so, but “when I was praying about it, I was like, ‘God, I don’t know what to say.’ He’s like, ‘don’t worry about it. I’ll tell you what to say. I’ll put the words in your mouth.’ And he has every night.”

Arnold explained that, while some people in the crowd might not be receptive to his message, he still wants to “plant a seed.”

“I’m not trying to shove religion down their throat or anything like that. I just wanted to simply tell them that Jesus loves them because this world needs it,” he continued. “This world, to a lot of people, is a really, really dark place. And it’s not for all of us, but for a lot of people it is. And to shine a light in darkness is the greatest thing that I feel like that I can do with my platform.”

Arnold often shares messages of faith on social media. One post reads, “Thank you, Jesus, for always finding me, loving me, picking me up, and bringing me back.”

Movieguide® previously reported on how faith helped Arnold overcome his struggles with addiction:

“January 19 is a special day for me every year,” he posted on Instagram earlier this year. “It marks the start of a new year of a new life, a life without a bottle in my hand. I feel like a different person than I did eight years ago…..and it feels so good. Without question, God took that burden from me. I was so tired of carrying it. I couldn’t carry it any more so I gave it to God and I’m not taking it back! If you’re struggling with something, give it to Him. He’ll gladly take your burden and you’ll never have to carry it again.”
