Al Roker Calls Time With Granddaughter ‘As Good As It Gets’

Al Roker is loving life as a grandpa!
“Yesterday was just about as good as it gets,” he captioned a series of photos of himself and granddaughter Sky, 7 months.
Sky was born last year to Roker’s daughter, Courtney Roker Laga, and her husband, Wes.

Al Roker is officially a grandpa, or a Pop-Pop, as he wants to be called. The TODAY show announced that Roker welcomed his first grandchild on July 3—a baby girl named Sky.
“And then this little girl came into my life. Welcome to the world, Sky Clara Laga. In love all over again. Thank you, Courtney and Wes for such a perfect blessing. You baby is beautiful. Already planning the ways to spoil her and then hand her back,” Roker captioned his first Instagram photos of baby Sky.
“On Tuesday morning, Today show anchors announced that their fellow co-host and weather anchor, 68, is officially a grandfather,” People reported. “Roker’s Today family shared that the family “couldn’t be happier” at the healthy and safe arrival.”
Sky is the daughter of Courtney Roker Laga, whom Roker shares with his ex-wife Alice Bell. He is also a father to Leila, 24, and Nick, 20, whom he shares with his current wife, Deborah Roberts.
“We are absolutely obsessed with her. Thank you to Dr Shonda Corbett and the labor & delivery team at @holynamemedicalcenter who helped bring her into this world ?,” Courtney also sharedSky’s photos on her Instagram.
“It is magical, it really is,” Roker said shortly after her birth. “Everybody tells you that it’s going to be this thing and you don’t know — it’s like when they tell you about having your first child. And then to hold this little girl, knowing that 30 — almost 35 years ago — I held her mom and here she is, 5 pounds, 15 ounces, 19 inches long and she’s just perfect.”
The family recently celebrated Sky’s 7-month birthday, with Roker posting, “Guess who’s 7 months old? That went by fast,” under some photos of his granddaughter.
