‘All a Part of His Plan’: NFL Star Looks to God After Season-Ending Injury

San Fransisco 49ers quarterback Trey Lance looks to God for strength and healing after a season-ending injury earlier this month.

Lance broke his right ankle during a game against the Seattle Seahawks earlier in September and recently underwent surgery.

“Truly appreciate all of the messages and prayers,” he wrote in a recent Instagram post. “Surgery was a success and I am ready to attack this rehab process. We will never understand why, but I trust that it is all a part of His plan, and I will be back better than ever.”

While his season is over, Lance turns to the Bible for comfort.

He opened his post with Romans 8:18, which says, “I consider that our present sufferings are not worth comparing with the glory that will be revealed in us.”

He concluded his post by looking to the future with hope, saying, “This chapter is going to make the story even greater!”

Lance has been vocal about his faith on social media in the past.

In both his Twitter and Instagram profile bios, he describes himself as a “Child of God” and shares verses with his Twitter followers.

In a 2020 interview with Yahoo! Sports, he shared, “Football is not who I am, it’s what I do. I’m obviously going to put everything possible into it because that’s what I love to do. But at the end of the day, I think God put that in my plan to use it as my platform.”
