
Here Are All the Franchises Coming to Universal’s Kid-Focused Theme Park

Universal has unveiled new information about its kid-focused theme park, revealing that SopngeBob and Minions will be among the franchises getting there own lands when the attractions open.
“At Universal Kids Resort, children will have the opportunity to play, sing, dance and discover with some of their favorite characters,” said Dan Cuffe, VP and GM of Universal Kids Resort. “Beyond the highly-engaging attractions and shows, families will find ample areas to rest and also enjoy themed food and beverages and shop for fun character souvenirs.”
Universal Kids Resort was first announced in January 2023, with the studio breaking ground on the park later that year. Universal hopes to open the park in 2026 and has now released a full list of the lands that will be open at launch. They include Shrek, Puss In Boots, Trolls, Minions, Jurassic World, along with two IPs they do not control: Spongebob and Gabby’s Dollhouse.

“It’s an amazing opportunity to bring these iconic stories to life for kids and families to experience, interact with and play together,” said Sarah Gibbon, VP & Executive Producer, Universal Creative. “At each point, we considered how we could design a place especially for kids where they could explore, imagine and adventure with their families and friends. They’ll be able to do all this while being fully immersed in some of their favorite stories – ones full of curiosity, laughter and joy.”
Universal Kids Resort is located in Frisco, Texas, and is “specifically designed and developed for families with young children.” When the kid-focused resort was first announced in 2025, Universal also revealed plans to expand and renovate its Orlando Resort to make it the most futuristic theme park in the world, while also expanding into Las Vegas to create a horror focused offering.
