Anchor Julie Chen Moonves: ‘God Always Works it Out’
By Movieguide® Contributor
News anchor and CBS producer Julie Chen Moonves has discovered the secret to a worry-free life.
“When you’re struggling, it’s ‘cause you don’t have faith. You’re clinging on to ‘I gotta control this. I got to do that,’” Moonves said on TBN’s PRAISE.
“Then it’s like, no. Let go and let God. Whenever I sit back and I’m like, ‘I’m not gonna worry about it,’ God always works it out every single time,” she explained.
So, she chooses not to lose sleep over things that haven’t even happened yet.
“When I let go and let God, that thing either solves itself out or that thing goes away,” she explained.
Because God is there and can listen to her thoughts and prayers, Moonves knows she can depend on him.
“You are not alone because God is right there, and he’s thinking about all of us all the time,” she said. “He’s just waiting for us to open the door.”
“You know, sometimes I say, ‘Oh, you know, I was talking to myself again.’ You’re not talking to yourself. You’re talking to God. But are you listening to him?” she said.
Movieguide® previously reported on Moonves’ ability to let go of stress and find peace as a believer in Christ:
“There’s a peace about me that I never knew existed. I never craved it because being busy with work, which I equated with living, seemed fulfilling. I often ran on fumes, but now there’s a peace within me,” she said. “I’ve never been a worrier, but the level of stress has decreased significantly. I used to be a control freak, thinking that control meant no worries. Now, I realize I’m controlling nothing and am in charge of nothing.”
Moonves received her first Bible in 2018. When the pandemic hit, she began to dive into the word of God more. She started to attend weekly Zoom Bible studies and read devotionals by Billy Graham.
“That’s when I really start to understand who God is, and who I am, and why I’m here, and how He has blessed me all my life while I was ignoring Him,” Moonves told CBN Digital. “[God gave me this] career so that I could get to where I am today to use any and every platform, being a public figure, and declaring…Jesus, my Lord and Savior.”
Now, she proclaims that she’s a follower of Jesus loud and proud. She even recorded an audio memoir, called, “But First, God,” where she recalls her life’s journey and her path to finding God, and the “hope” it gave her.
