More Detail:

In Episode 6 of the second installment of UP Faith & Family’s HEARTLAND’s 18th season, a new business opportunity arises, and Amy struggles to balance her responsibility to her family’s ranch and her feelings for Nathan.

Lou is excited when she gets a call from Jed, the CEO of Crown Shoppers. She hopes to partner with his grocery stores and bring Heartland’s new bison business to the grocery chain. However, Jed is more interested in Amy’s horse skills. He agrees to hear Lou’s pitch — if Amy comes to look at his grandson’s horse, who is acting strangely.

Amy is initially hesitant to go on the trip to Vancouver, as she had made a date with Nathan, but Lou tells her this potential deal could mean a lot for Heartland’s finances. She agrees, and she, Lisa, and Lou head off to Vancouver.

Once they arrive at Jed’s house, Amy is upset to learn that he runs Crown Shoppers. The grocery chain buys beef from Pryce Beef, Nathan’s family’s ranch, and she doesn’t want to be in business competition with him. Lou tells her that the Heartland deal would be for bison, and it won’t affect Pryce Beef, but Amy is still upset that Lou didn’t tell her the whole story. She goes to look at Jed’s grandson’s horse, which has started spooking, but she can’t identify the cause.

After Lou pitches Heartland to Jed, she, Lisa, and Amy leave, and Amy accuses Lou of sabotaging Nathan and his family. Lisa manages to get them to talk out their problems, and Amy reveals Nathan’s family secret. She swears Lou and Lisa to secrecy, and they agree. Lou and Amy reconcile, and Lou apologizes for not telling Amy they were trying to make a deal with Crown Shoppers.

Eventually, Amy gets to the bottom of why Jed’s grandson’s horse is spooked. Jed, excited that his grandson is happy, tells Lou that they will partner with Heartland for the bison. Jed makes it clear that he will not buy beef from them, as he respects their longtime deal with Pryce and Nathan’s father. Lou accidentally reveals a family secret to Jed that ends Crown Shoppers’ partnership with Pryce.

As they head home, Lou and Lisa keep this slip from Amy, trying to figure out how to tell her, but before they can, Amy goes to see Nathan. He is upset and tells her Crown Shoppers just ended their partnership with Pryce because they kept Nathan’s family secret from them. Nathan doesn’t understand how they found out, but Amy seems to realize that her revealing the secret had something to do with it.
