Last Friday, multi-time Super Bowl Champion Tom Brady made a 12-year-old boy’s dream come true.
With the help of the Make-A-Wish Foundation, Axton Robertson got to meet one of the greatest NFL quarterbacks of all time.
“I’ve been helping with Make-A-Wish for a while, and it’s always just an amazing experience,” Brady, 47, told PEOPLE in an exclusive interview. “There are a lot of people who deal with some difficult situations, so it’s great to hear their stories, wish them words of encouragement, and make a fun day out of it.”
Robertson, who’s in remission from cancer, first became of fan of Brady’s when Brady was the quarterback for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The pair met at the Fanatics Fest over the weekend.
“Fanatics is doing some great things, and bringing so many of these wishes to Fanatics Fest is just special for everybody. Not only do you get to meet us, but I get to be a part of this whole experience — and the whole day is fun for everybody,” Brady said.
Fanatics took to social media to share a video of the special moment between Robertson and Brady.
“Wish kid Axton linked up with Tom Brady at Fanatics Fest this weekend 🤩 He scored a few autos and then caught passes from the 🐐,” the account wrote in the caption.
Robertson’s mom, Courtney, shared with PEOPLE how special the moment was for her son.

“He looks up to him very much,” she said. “We didn’t really know how that was going to take place until just a few weeks ago, and he has been absolutely thrilled, looking forward to this.”
“He was very nervous this morning — the anticipation has been building for a long time,” she continued. “We’ve known about this wish for about a year and a half, so the fact that the day is finally here is both exciting and nerve-racking.”
Brady has made the wishes of other kids with critical illnesses come true as well.
Back in 2017, he “met some of his biggest fans and made the dreams of nine children come true during a Make-A-Wish event on Wednesday, July 26, 2017. In addition to meeting Brady, the kids got a tour of Gillette Stadium and were treated to autographed jerseys, photos, and other gifts,” the New England Patriots reported.
For kids like Robertson, those moments mean so much.
“He’s been through a lot,” Courtney said of her son. “So to see him get to experience something like this — and the generosity that’s being shown — it’s very well deserved, but we’re also very appreciative.”
It’s incredible to see a pro athlete like Brady use his platform to bring joy to kids’ lives.
