Angel Studios just gave the green light to complete HOMESTEAD Season 1 and start Season 2.

“HOMESTEAD has captivated audiences worldwide with its bold and uplifting vision of the post-apocalyptic genre,” said Jordan Harmon, President of Angel. “The stellar cast, fueled by the unwavering support of our Angel Guild, has not only has allowed us to greenlight the completion of Season 1 but also secured an early greenlight for Season 2, ensuring fans can dive back into the story sooner than ever.”

The series stars Bailey Chase, Charles Esten, Dawn Oliveri, Jill Wagner and Great American Family star Jesse Hutch.

Season 2 will see HOMESTEAD residents face new threats and conflicts as they try to start over in a changed world, an Angel Studios press release stated.

“The remaining Season 1 & 2 takes us deeper into the aftermath, as the Homestead transforms from a survivalist stronghold into the fragile heart of a new civilization — where rising hope collides with the threat of war, and the choice to lead could cost everything,” said Showrunner Ben Kasica.

HOMESTEAD, the feature film, premiered on Dec. 20. It made $6 million in its first weekend and made over $20 million in the box office. HOMESTEAD: THE SERIES aired alongside the movie.

“We’re thrilled to bring HOMESTEAD back for another season,” said director Ben Smallbone. “The story’s heart lies in its characters and their journey to find hope amidst chaos. With Bailey and Charles leading the charge, we’re excited to explore new dimensions of their stories and the world they’re fighting to protect.”

The HOMESTEAD: THE SERIES official Instagram wrote that filming for the rest of Season 1 had previously been delayed due to high snowfall in Utah, where the movie and series were filmed.

Hutch told Screen Rant of playing in the movie, “I just really felt that this was special, and something really unique and important about it. The more I met the team, and the more I met the cast, and the more it started to roll, and now that I’m watching the movie, I’m going, “Wow, I’m really along for a ride here.’ …It really has a meaning to it, and there’s themes, and there’s a discussion to be had here that I think is really important and special for everybody.”

Production for the rest of Season 1 will start in summer 2025. The expected release date is late this year, and it will stream on Angel’s site and app. Angel hasn’t indicated when Season 2 will release yet.
