Announcer Reveals Star Football Player Was Almost Aborted

By Allyson Vannatta, Staff Writer

During Saturday’s broadcast of the classic college football rivalry game between The Ohio State University and the University of Michigan, announcers revealed that Ohio State’s star running back, J.K. Dobbins, was almost aborted.

After Dobbins’ fourth touchdown, towards the end of the game, Fox announcer Gus Johnson gave viewers some history on Dobbins’ backstory.

Johnson revealed Dobbins’ mother, Mya Grounds, became pregnant at the age of 18 with the football player.

“She went to the doctor because she was thinking about aborting the baby, but changed her mind,” Johnson said.

“That baby turned out to be that young man — J.K. Dobbins — who she calls her ‘miracle baby.’”

Ohio State versus Michigan is always a popular game. This year it was the second most watched college football game of the season. Because of this, Johnson received praise from pro-life activist groups for drawing attention to this important issue.

Others Twitter users also showed the announcer some love for sharing the inspiring story.

Dobbins’ success on the field puts a dent in Planned Parenthood’s attempt to normalize abortions in media.

Movieguide® previously reported that Caren Spruch, the group’s Director of Arts and Entertainment Engagement, is the woman on the ground in Hollywood encouraging filmmakers to show the procedure as casual with no long-term consequences.

However, Dobbins’ mother’s decision shows that every child deserves the chance at life and to be the person that God intended for them to be.
