Apple TV+ Raises Price to $9.99 Per Month

Apple is raising the cost of its Apple TV+ streaming platform from $6.99 per month to $9.99 per month.

This change comes amidst a flurry of price increases across a variety of Apple’s services, including Apple Arcade, Apple News+ and Apple One.

“[Apple remains] focused on delivering the best experiences possible for our customers by consistently adding high-quality entertainment, content, and innovative features to our services,” the company said, noting that the price changes will go into effect next month.

This serves as Apple TV+’s second price increase since it launched at the end of 2019. The price was changed from $4.99 per month to $6.99 just under a year ago.

Even with a $9.99 per month price tag, Apple TV+ remains one of the least expensive options when it comes to streaming platforms, especially given its ad-free experience. In comparison, a standard Netflix account costs $15.49 per month, while a standard Disney+ subscription runs at $13.99 per month.

In its four years since launching, Apple TV+ has landed some major hits such as TED LASSO, THE MORNING SHOW and SEVERANCE. It also streams the 2022 Oscar Best Picture-winner CODA, which is an Apple TV+ exclusive.

The service also provides subscribers access to live sports through MLB Friday Night Baseball and full access to Major League Soccer.

“Since launching four years ago, Apple TV+ has made history for streaming services by crossing major milestones in a short span of time, thanks to its extensive selection of award-winning and broadly acclaimed series, feature films, documentaries, and kids and family entertainment,” Apple said.

Apple TV+ recently announced its new fall slate of TV shows for children and families, which features content geared to audiences as young as preschool.

The full slate includes new original content, like SAGO MINI FRIENDS, SLUMBERKINS, CIRCUIT BREAKERS, and INTERRUPTING CHICKEN.

Returning for follow-up seasons are shows like the Emmy Award-winning series GHOSTWRITER, the animated adventure series WOLFBOY AND THE EVERYTHING FACTORY, and GET ROLLING WITH OTIS.

Also, a part of the fall slate is classic titles based on the Peanuts comic strips written by Charles M. Schulz.
