Are You Separated From God? Former NFL Star Has the Answer

Former NFL player Benjamin Watson expounded on one of the most famous Bible verses — John 3:16 — to remind his fans of saving power of Jesus.

“Jesus tells Nicodemus that the only way for you to be made right with God — for you to have life eternal — is to believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, to believe on me,” Watson said in his sermon. “And then He also goes further and says, ‘I didn’t come to condemn. I came to save you. See, Nicodemus, you’re condemned already. Those who don’t believe in me are already condemned. I don’t have to do that. Your sin has separated you from me.'”

“You see, to understand what was happening in John chapter three, we have to understand about God’s holiness,” the pro-life advocate continued. “God is perfect. He’s set apart. He’s sanctified. He’s sinless. God created Adam and Eve and placed them in a garden, and He gave them freedom of choice, like we all have, and they chose to disobey Him. At that moment, sin entered the world. At that moment, it was passed down from generation to generation to generation to generation, so that as we sit here, we were all born into sin. You didn’t have to do anything bad.”

We each have a choice to make. “You may have come here not thinking of anything, but right now, the spirit of God is resting on you. Because you know there are some decisions you need to make,” Watson said.

That decision is whether we will accept Jesus’ sacrificial death and resurrection for the salvation from our sins. As Paul tells us in Romans 6:23, “For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.”

“At the end of the day, nothing holds enough weight for our salvation except faith in the finished work of Jesus,” Watson wrote in the caption. “Not our donations, not our gifts, not even our good deeds — only His grace is enough. Rest in that truth!”
