‘Blessing’: Remaining Suvivor of The Nelons Welcomes First Child
By Movieguide® Contributor
Autumn Nelon Streetman, the last surviving member of gospel group The Nelons, is celebrating the birth of her first child.
“The sweetest blessing God has ever given us,” she captioned a photo of herself and her newborn son, Rhett, who was born December 1, which is also her late mother’s birthday.
In another post, announcing Rhett’s birth, Streeman wrote, “The hardest but most rewarding thing I’ve ever done. Happy Birthday Mama, I think you would love this birthday gift.”
Earlier this year, Streeman lost both her parents and her sister in a plane crash while en route to attend the Gaither Homecoming Cruise.

In an Instagram post put up a few weeks after her family’s deaths, Streetman wrote, “The sun came up this morning & now we find a new normal.”
“Thank you to everyone from the bottom of my heart for the outpouring of love you have shown me & my family,” she continued. “There are not enough words to say how thankful I am to have such an amazing support team.”
Speaking to Woman’s World about her grief, Streetman shared, “The only peace that I have is that they are in heaven, and I know that what they are seeing now is nothing compared to what we have down here.”
“I know that they wouldn’t want to come back, even if they could, they wouldn’t,” she continued. “So that’s what I just tell myself every day. My mom’s parents are up there, and my dad is up there. Amber’s three little babies. They are up there [Amber lost three babies to miscarriages]. I know that they are in a better place, and someday sooner than we think, we’re all going to be there.”
Streeman added, “It’s still very, very hard. I have good days and I have bad days. There are times when I think I should have told my mama I loved her one more time, but she knew. They all knew.”
