Legendary game show host Bob Barker died of Alzheimer’s disease, according to his death certificate.

Barker died on August 26, 2023, at 99 years old.

TMZ reported that he never publicly discussed the disease, but “his death came ‘years’ after his Alzheimer’s began.”

“Hypertension (high blood pressure), hypothyroidism and hyperlipidemia (high cholesterol) were also listed as “other significant conditions” that contributed to Barker’s death, per the certificate,” MSN added.

Barker was best known for his work on THE PRICE IS RIGHT, which he hosted from 1972 to 2007. Before that, he hosted the show TRUTH OR CONSEQUENCES.

Barker will be buried in Forest Lawn cemetery next to his wife, Dorothy Jo, who died in 1981. His publicist, Roger Neal, said there will be no memorial service.

According to Barker’s longtime friend Nancy Burnet, he was healthy until only shortly before his death, still routinely exercising and capable of carrying on conversation.

“Up to two months age, Bob Barker was routinely having conversations and participating in bedside exercises,” Burnet said.
