The Houston Texans took down the 2024 Super Bowl-winning Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday night during primetime, and quarterback C.J. Stroud unsurprisingly gave God the glory.

“CJ, I’m going to start with you because you come in here, you knock off the Kansas City Chiefs, fifth straight win. What does this mean for this team in this organization?” an interviewer asked the athlete after the game.

“It means everything, man. You know, it starts with practice and preparation,” Stroud said, adding, “But, you know, for me, it all goes back to my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and being able to glorify His name when I’m out here. And it’s a tough team, a tough environment to play in, but we got it done, and we’ll go home with the dub.”

According to CBS Sports, the Texans beat the Chiefs 20-10. Stroud finished the game with “203 yards passing and a touchdown on 15 of 31 passing.”

At the press conference, the quarterback, who calls himself a “Child of Jesus Christ” in his Instagram bio, elaborated further on the impact the win had on the Texans.

“It’s big time. We ended our season here last year. You kind of have that bad taste in your mouth,” he said, per the Texans Wire. “We were all motivated to win this game and do the right things to win the game. It’s a blessing. There are always things to clean up. Offensively, we need to be better in the second half. I thought we played hard. In December, you want to get wins and that’s all that really matters.”

Despite the win, Stroud identified one area the Texans need to improve.

“The pressure, the blitz. We just have to be better at identifying it and at trying to make plays. We have to be better on first down; that is really the key. If we can get to third and shorts, or even mediums, that helps us out,” he said.

The Texans began their season 0-3 but now are on their way to making NFL history as they have won their last 10 games. This means Houston is in a position to “reach the playoffs twice after 0-3 starts. The Texans first accomplished the feat in 2018.”

While Stroud will do all he can each week to propel his team forward towards the playoffs, fans know he’ll continue to praise God regardless of the wins and losses.
