Candace Cameron Bure Shares How Acting Break Grew Her Faith

Candace Cameron Bure is reflecting on her time in the entertainment business, from her start on FULL HOUSE to her work with Great American Family.
“It’s pretty cool to have been part of such an iconic show that’s still living on in history today,” she said of FULL HOUSE during an appearance on the “New World Old Soul” podcast. “I mean, we’ve never been off the air in over 35 years.”
Bure touched on some of the recent conversations that have come up about the dark side of child stardom, saying, “I loved it enough that I’m still in the entertainment industry today. We had such a great group of people on the show. I know that there are so many horror stories, kids that are in the business that have a really bad experience, and my heart goes out to those people, and yet, I’m so grateful for the experience I had.”
The actress has previously spoken about her own experiences as a young actor, telling E! News, “If you love it, it can be a wonderful industry. You really need people around you to protect you that are looking out for your best interest and just be careful of everyone else’s motives — cause they’re not always [looking after] your best interest.”

“I’m just so grateful for that time that I stayed home and was with the kids and could really focus on them and also my relationship with God because that’s where I grew tremendously in my faith,” she explained. “It was just a big transition moment…it took me a good two or three years to really dig into God’s word, to really pray over it every day, to listen to God and be like, ‘Oh, this is a season of my life, and God has called me to motherhood for this season.’”
She continued, “And when I eventually came back into the industry, I just had a very different perspective.”
Bure shared that perspective during her time on THE VIEW, which she said “obviously built up my courage.”
“I have never prayed the way I prayed every morning before I went to work,” she said. “I was literally putting on the armor of God.”

Today, Bure shares her faith and commitment to family-friendly content with Great American Family.
“[I am] so happy at Great American Family, and I absolutely love working with the network,” she shared. “I have an executive position at the network, and I’m helping build this network from the ground up…I’m proud of all the things that we’ve done.”
Bure has two upcoming movies premiering on GAF this Christmas — A CHRISTMAS LESS TRAVELED and HOME SWEET CHRISTMAS.
“The movies feel like the comforts of home,” she told Parade of the holiday genre’s popularity. “People [are] going to fall in love. There’s a happy ending. You’re going to have all the feels in your heart. All the reasons why these movies get made fun of are the very reasons they’re so beloved.”
