Candace Owens Blasts Chrissy Teigen’s Apology After Cyberbully Accusations

By Movieguide® Staff

Popular conservative commentator Candace Owens blasted model Chrissy Teigen after the latter issued a social media apology for cyberbullying conservative women.

“The problem with # chrissyteigen’s diatribe is that she’s apologizing for who she was ‘a long time ago,'” Owens wrote in response. “Let’s be clear— Chrissy spent the last 6 years online harassing conservative women who DID NOTHING to her. This wasn’t some off-colored period of her life. It’s who she is.”

Teigen, the 35-year-old model, wrote a lengthy apology on Medium and said that there is “not a day, not a single moment has passed where I haven’t felt the crushing weight of regret for the things I’ve said in the past.”

“I was a troll, full stop. And I am so sorry,” she wrote. “I want to go a little further here, thinking of those I’ve hurt and friends I’ve disappointed.”

Teigen said she felt shame that it took other celebrities calling her out to see that “words have consequences and there are real people behind the Twitter handles I went after.”

Unlike Owens, many celebrities accepted Teigen’s apology.

Fox News reported:

Teigen’s apology on Monday prompted some of her loved ones to leave votes of support for her post.

“Sending love,” actress Yvette Nicole Brown commented under the post, while Teigen’s husband, John Legend, took the route of many of her other friends and added heart emojis in lieu of written words.

Zoe Saldana issued a defense of Teigen while letting the model know that her words did not go unheard. “The trolling that you are receiving is also uncalled for,” wrote Saldana. “I see you and respect you.”

However, Owens accused Teigen’s PR team of “deleting negative comments to create the illusion that the world is forgiving her.”

“This is little more than a carefully crafted Hollywood PR stunt,” Owens tweeted. “She’s still a malignant sociopathic narcissist.”

Owens added photos of Teigen’s messages to fashion designer Micheal Costello.

“Sharing this because another victim is stepping forward today to discuss Chrissy Teigen’s mafia like bully tactics in Hollywood,” Owen’s wrote. “It is very similar to what she did to Alison Roman. Please read his full entry on his Instagram page.”

“Guys. I don’t think you understand. Michael Costello has spoken out and Chrissy Teigen was in his DMs telling him he should kill himself when he told her that the photoshopped image she was spreading about him was causing him to suffer,” she added.

Teigen has not yet responded to Owens’ comments. Teigen’s behavior and subsequent apology show the dangers of social media and the importance of media discernment in monitoring what we consume.
