Carrie Underwood, one of the chicest country stars in the world, isn’t afraid to get her hands dirty on her home farm and learn some spiritual lessons while she’s at it.
Along with her husband and two sons, Underwood grows produce, raises livestock, cans food and even crochets, Fox News Digital reported. She has sheep, berries, peaches, tomatoes and other animals and produce.
Lately on her farm, she was picking some berries when she got the urge to pray.
“I went down to the orchard to feed Sugar and the sheep and thought I’d check to see if the pink lemonade blueberries were almost ready….I was on the next-to-last bush when I thought I’d pray,” the AMERICAN IDOL winner said. “I love praying out loud in the orchard…it’s so beautiful and peaceful.”
“I was about 15 seconds into my chat when I was surprised by a snake in the blueberry bush,” she explained on Instagram. “Just a rat snake…nothing dangerous. But he was there…JUST as I began to pray.”
It made her think about the devil — how he’s always there, even when we are close to God.
“Being a Christian isn’t a free ticket out of trouble. The world is full of evil…BUT God is with us,” she reflected. “The snake and I kept our eyes on each other…but I got what I came for, finished my prayer and went about my morning…having faith that Mr. Snakey and the devil will both be moving along…out of my orchard and out of my way!”
Another time, Underwood was picking berries and was swarmed by bees, Hello Magazine reported. She fled the area but shared photos of the bees in flight and after they landed, clustered together on one of the plants.
“They landed on a blueberry bush … maybe we can catch them tomorrow if they’re still there…” she said.
Snakes and swarms aside, she’s been enjoying her farm life. She recently canned over two dozen foodstuffs.

She named one of her lambs Jamal after AMERICAN IDOL’s Season 23 winner, Jamal Roberts.
She wore one of the crochet projects she made, a tomato-inspired top, to AMERICAN IDOL when she starred as a judge.
Underwood’s farm took off during the 2020 pandemic.
“I love the heat here in Tennessee, and it just made me happy to, you know, grow something from nothing,” she said. “It feels like little miracles every time I get something.”
She said her garden is one of her “happy places.” She likes to think and reflect while she gets her “hands dirty.”
“I love that our meals, especially dinner, it’s like you look on our plate and everything on our plates is something that either came from the garden or my husband’s a hunter, you know,” she said. “The meat is something that he got. We eat what we have. We eat seasonally. It all tastes delicious because it’s food.”
She never has any food waste because leftovers go to the chickens or the compost.
“It’s fun,” she said. “You know you’re doing something good for you. It feels good to physically do all of these things.”
As she picks produce and cooks homegrown meals, Underwood embraces simplicity and spiritual growth.
