WATSON fans will get the second season way sooner than expected.

Season 2 of the CBS procedural drama, which puts a modern spin on the classic Sherlock Holmes stories, was originally slated to release early 2026.

Now, it will premiere on Oct. 13, moving from its original Sunday night slot to Mondays at 10 p.m. ET, placing it immediately after FBI.

An exciting trailer dropped on the WATSON CBS Instagram account, showing clips of the thrilling season ahead.

“The world’s greatest detective returns, and every clue points to one thing: something is afoot. Catch the premiere Monday, October 13 on CBS and Paramount+,” the caption reads.

People in the comment section expressed excitement for the season.

“I was coming to look for the season’s premiere lol. Found it, thank God it’s coming sooner ❤️” one person said. Another person added, “Looking forward to it🔥🔥🔥.”

The downside of the new time slot is that WATSON will no longer follow the immensely popular TRACKER, but star Morris Chestnut isn’t worried.

“I’m hoping [it will go] very well!” he told CinemaBlend. “I mean, FBI is a great franchise. I love Dick Wolf and everything that they do over there, and I think it’s going to do very well on Mondays. I love Sundays as well, but I think it’ll do very well on Mondays.”

Thankfully, the earlier premiere date didn’t change much for the cast and crew as they had already started filming.

“When they made the decision, we were already ramping up to go into production. We still had our studio space from last year, and we were just anxious to get back,” Chestnut told the outlet.

“And [showrunner] Craig [Sweeny] had been writing feverishly on the show, and so we were all just anxious to get back to work, so we didn’t have to start early. I know we did start earlier than a couple of other productions. I think TRACKER may have started the month after us, but we were on schedule.”

A year after the death of his friend and partner Sherlock Holmes, Dr. John Watson resumes his medical career at a clinic dedicated to the treatment of rare diseases,” WATSON’s IMDB synopsis reads. “However, he soon finds that his old life is not done with him yet.”

Season 2 will kick off with “A Son in the Oven,” featuring Mary’s mother who “is suffering from a mysterious and fast progressing form of dementia, believing that she is 25 years old and pregnant with her first child,” Sweeny revealed.

He added, “Morris is so commanding in the role of Watson that I stopped worrying about the character sharing the spotlight with Sherlock Holmes.”

WATSON fans can’t wait to see what’s in store for the characters this season.
