Gospel legend CeCe Winans invited her followers to join in on a 20-day prayer challenge in the lead-up to Easter.
“My heart has been really heavy for our world and everything that’s happening around us,” she said in a social media video. “I truly believe that now is the time that we need to come together to seek the Lord.”
Winans continued, “So, over the next twenty days leading up to Easter I want to invite you to join me in praying each day and every day. I’ll be sharing a short video with a prayer focus, really probably a scripture and just pray over that scripture. Because when we pray the word of God it ensures that we’re always praying the heart of God. And that’s what we need right now so desperately. So, I hope you’ll take a few moments to pray along with me for our world, for our communities and for one another.”

The singer also encouraged fellow artists and performers to join in on her campaign, saying, “My prayer is that we can come together in unity and pray the will of God and bring these things before our Heavenly Father, trusting that He hears us and that He is still at work.”
Last year, Winans marked Easter with a special AMERICAN IDOL performance during the show’s “Songs of Faith” episode. She sang “Come Jesus Come” alongside IDOL alum Roman Collins.
“To be invited back to AMERICAN IDOL to share a message of hope through music is such an honor,” she said at the time. “This song means so much to me…it’s a reminder that in the midst of all we face, there’s still the promise that help is on the way.”
Winans is getting ready to hit the road this summer on her “COME WORSHIP!” tour, where she’ll be joined by Charity Gayle, Red Worship and Terrian.
“I could not be more excited that Charity Gayle, Red Worship, and Terrian will be joining me on the COME WORSHIP! Tour,” the singer said in a statement. “My prayer for this journey is that people of all ages feel welcomed and encouraged, and are reminded that when we lift up the name of Jesus, he meets us right where we are. I pray that communities will gather together, put aside our differences and worship together.”
Whether it’s through her successful music or through her prayer challenge, Winans prioritizes sharing her faith as we head into the Easter season.
